THE OLD RECTORY

Chapter was commissioned to complete a feasibility study for this Grade II listed private residential estate in Dorset. The brief was to explore how the property could better support family living and large-scale entertaining. Chapter’s approach was to propose changes that would precipitate a cohesive long-term vision for the wider estate. The studio commenced by looking at day-to-day circulation across the property and family arrival routes to see how these could be re-directed and optimised. Working hand in hand with the client, Chapter tested and discussed a range of spatial and architectural interventions, including the conversion of existing outbuildings into guest accommodation and the transformation of the disused tennis court into a swimming pool and pool house. Through simple 3D concept visuals and strategic planning analysis, the studio assessed opportunities for structural change, functionality, and future development. Alongside the design proposals, Chapter prepared high-level costings and project priorities to guide decision-making and define a clear framework for the next phase of works.
