EDWARDIAN COUNTRY HOUSE
Chapter developed an initial spatial strategy for the new owners of this Edwardian family home in Somerset and their expanding family, as part of a phased project.
The overarching aim was to take a holistic view of the property, focusing on reconfiguration and space optimisation. The first phase explored the existing attic and bedroom volumes as a starting point to improve flow, functionality and spatial efficiency, successfully identifying a new staircase location.
Through volumetric studies and concept planning, the proposal examined opportunities for refined circulation and integrated storage within the existing architectural fabric, sensitively creating a more cohesive approach to family living.
The next phase will focus on the kitchen, family room, and the creation of a grander sense of arrival to the house.
